Dodge City volleyball ended another long losing streak to another KJCCC opponent with a four-set win over Barton on Wednesday. The Conquistadors topped the Cougars of Barton for the first time since 2016 with a 3-1 win 25-20, 2325, 25-19, 25-21 snapping a 12-match losing streak to Barton.
Dodge City rodeo competed most recently at the Southeastern Oklahoma State University NIRA rodeo event and came away with some solid scoring performances. The women’s team would finish ninth as a team behind 45 total points helping secure those points was the performance of Katherine Walker who placed fifth in breakaway roping, as she split 3/4th in the long round.
The first early deer seasons of the year are right around the corner, meaning hunters should be digging out their gear in preparation. A very important tool for early bow-hunters is good camouflage clothing. Webster’s dictionary describes camouflage as “A disguise; a deception; to disguise in order to conceal.” Anyone who has priced camouflage clothing at sporting goods stores or even Wal-Mart knows there’s hardly a limit to the amount of money one can spend on camouflage clothing and gear. My way around that is to buy or otherwise procure military surplus camo. This is hardly a secret and possibly many of you have already gone this route too, but maybe I can pass on to you a few things I’ve learned about military camouflage clothing.
The Conqs were unable to overcome a slow start on the night falling 3-1 to Seward County dropping the match 25-16, 25-17, 16-25, 25-20. The loss moves the Conqs to 15-5 on the season and 4-4 in KJCCC action.

The Dodge City High School girls’ golf team placed ninth out of 21 teams at the Hutchinson Invitational Thursday, Sept. 29 at the Carey Park Golf Course in Huchinson.
Cimarron picked up the first win of the season in the upset of Larned 23-14. The Bluejays had been shut out three times in four games but in this game that was not the case.
The Red Demons lost a heartbreaker on Sept. 30, falling just a few plays short in a 21-14 defeat at the hands of Great Bend Panthers.
