The Dodge City volleyball team not only enjoyed one of their best seasons in years on the court but also excelled in the classroom during the 2021-22 school year to earn USMC/AVCA Team Academic honors. The honor marks the third time in school history to earn the distinction and the Conquistadors are one of over 1,200 collegiate and high school programs to earn the honor from the AVCA this year.

As the football season approaches the Dodge City football team bolsters their staff with the addition of two coaches as Head Coach, Terry Karg adds to his staff in his first year with the Conquistadors.
The A’s did not have an answer for the Hays Larks on July 19 as the A’s lost 12-2. The A’s would take an early lead in the top of the first inning thanks to a Roberto Gonzalez’s solo homer.
The A’s comeback attempt fell short on July 18 as the Fort Collins Foxes picked up a 7-6 win. The A’s could not stop the Foxes early on in the game. The Foxes would get on the scoreboard in the first inning by scoring two runs. The A’s responded In the bottom of the first inning as Roberto Gonzalez hit a homerun over the center field fall to cut the Foxes lead down to just one run. Later in the inning Brenden O’Sullivan would single to center field allowing one run to score and tying up the game 2-2. The Foxes would take a 7-2 lead after they scored 4 runs in the top of the second inning and would score one run in the top of the third inning. The A’s would not score again until the bottom of the eight inning thanks to an Artie Ramirez home run. The A’s would notch three runs in the ninth inning but unfortunately the comeback attempt fell short. William Roberts took the loss for the A’s tonight. Roberts surrendered seven runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out eight. After this loss the A’s record fell to 17-16 on the season.
The A’s extended their winning streak to seven games as they beat the Fort Collins Foxes 9-6 July 17. Artie Ramirez picked up the RBI in the first inning as he grounded out but in the process drove a run allowing the A’s to take a 1-0 lead at the bottom of the first inning.
It was a tough way to end the season on July 16 in Golden, Colo. It was a rainy afternoon in the Colorado mountains as the national playoff round of 16 would take place between Dodge City Toros and Utah Murciélagos. Both teams would have opportunities to score, and the score would be leveled at 0-0 at the half.
The A’s swept the RoughRiders in this three-game series thanks to a 11-1 victory July 14 to improve to 16-15 on the season. The game got off to a rough start for the A’s as the RoughtRiders took a 1-0 lead after a Home Run in the top of the first. The A’s would tie the game up in the bottom of the third thanks to Tyler Tobey as he grounded out, allowing his teammate to score. After this inning the A’s pulled away as they scored two runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth to make the score 5-1.
