The Dodge City A’s (0-2) were held to just two runs in their home opener against Liberal as The Liberal Bee Jays (2-0) picked up the win with a final score of 9-2. The game tied 0-0 until the third inning as the Bee Jays scored 3 runs in the top of the third.
Many area athletes and coaches have been chosen to participate in the 2022 Kansas 8-Man All-Star Games which will take place in Beloit on Saturday, June 11. Local players representing division one include Torren Haynes, Korben Clawson and Cullen Lumry from Meade High School, Brady Deges from South Gray High School, Brayden Bergkamp and Braydon Patterson from Hodgeman County High School and Kolten Bennett from Spearville.
The Southwest Kansas Storm fell to the Wyoming Mustangs 40-30 May 28 in Wyoming. The Mustangs found their scoring stride early but struggled to stop the Storm’s offensive attack.
Bucklin High School seniors Nate Bowman and Nathan Imel have been selected to the 1st Team 2022 Kansas Association of Baseball Coaches 1-2A All-State State Baseball Team. Bowman, the KABC 1-2A Co-Pitcher of the Year, was the ace on the mound for Bucklin again this season, striking out 107 of the 210 batters faced and tallied a 1.189 ERA.
Four Lady Demons made the 2022 WAC All-Conference Girls Soccer. Jasmine Ruiz, Matty Scheck and Mia Rayo were selected to the 1st team and Abigahil Gallegos was selected to the 2nd team.
Over the Memorial Day weekend CDR Promotions debuted the new infield short tracks at Dodge City Raceway Park. With the creation of the double wide pull tracks for the July 8 and 9 NTPA tractor pulling event, the infield space needed revision.
Jasmine Ruiz was named the 2022 WAC Girls Soccer Player of the Year and it’s well deserved. Jasmine scored 43 goals on the year with six assists.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Austin Hedges hit a three-run homer and rookie Oscar Gonzalez doubled in two runs, sending the Cleveland Guardians to an 8-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night. Hedges’ third-inning drive, which barely cleared the 19-foot wall in left, scored Ernie Clement and Oscar Mercado to extend Cleveland’s lead to 6-2.
