Dodge City baseball hit the road on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader against Otero and came home with a split taking game one 17-5 in five innings and falling 14-12 in game two. The split moves the Conquistadors to 17-16 on the season as they now turn their attention back to conference play as they open a series with Pratt starting on the road Thursday, April 7, and then at home on Saturday, April 9.
The Dodge City Red Demons scored five runs in the fifth inning to blow past Garden City 8-2 on Tuesday. Arec Mendoza, Caleb Miles, and Layton Blatnick powered the big inning with RBIs.
The Lady Demons softball team watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 4-1 loss to Hays on Tuesday. Hays took the lead on a home run in the second inning. Dodge City got on the board in the second inning when Ashlyn Lembright singled and drove one run in. Macy Musslin took the loss for the Lady Demons.
The Bucklin Red Aces picked up two wins on Tuesday night against Minneola. The one the first game 10-0 and won the second game 16-1.
The Bucklin Lady Aces remain undefeated as they beat Spearville in two games on Tuesday night. In the first game the Lady Aces took the lead late in the game in a 14-9 victory over Spearville.
Spearville Lancers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 8-2 loss to Ellis in game one and 5-0 in game two on Monday. In the first game Ellis took the lead on a single in the second inning. The Spearville Lancers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Ellis, giving up eight runs. In the second inning, Ellis got their offense started when Matt Ernst singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. Ellis scored three runs in the sixth inning. Tyson Jimenez earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Ellis. The lefty went six innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out 11 and walking one. Ernst threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Logan Hubbell took the loss for Spearville. The pitcher surrendered five runs on four hits over five innings, striking out nine. Josiah Mettling, Hubbell, and Easton Shenk each collected one hit to lead Spearville.

The championship KU captured Monday night traced its roots back to 2020, when the Jayhawks were a team that looked very much on track for the program’s fourth national title.
The Lady Demons swimming team took part in the Wichita Heights Invite on April 1. This meet featured 17 teams from across the state including several Western Athletic Conference league opponents.
After a doubleheader split at home against the Colby Trojans the Dodge City baseball team traveled to Colby to finish out the four-game series and would grab the split of the doubleheader on the road.
After opening the spring season with a conference tournament win the Dodge City men’s golf team brought home more hardware by winning the Bethel Invite. The Conquistadors competed at both the Hesston golf course and Sand Creek Station golf course for the Bethel Invite posting a team score of 572 with rounds of 283 and 289 claiming first place by 15-strokes.
