The Dodge City Red Demons baseball team were unable to pick up a victory against Valley Center or Newton Thursday. In the first game Valley Center defeated Dodge City 4-2. Valley Center got things started in the first inning when Payton Graham singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The Spearville Lancers baseball team picked up one win over the Scott City Beavers. In the first game the Lancers had a tough time generating runs, dropping their game with the Beavers 18-1.
Dodge City wrestling stand outs Damian Mendez (senior) and Luke Barker (junior) have continued to add to their already impressive resumes. This past weekend the multiple time state champions added National Champion to their accolades. Competing against the nation’s best high school wrestlers at the National High School Coaches Association High School Nationals in Virginia Beach, Virginia, both were able to navigate through their brackets full of nationally ranked opponents, state champions and state placers from all over the country.
Back on the road again on Monday for the Doge City softball team as they traveled to Great Bend for a KJCCC doubleheader with Barton. The Conquistadors battled in a pair of low-scoring affairs but came out on the wrong side falling 5-2 and 1-0.
The Dodge City women’s golf team dominated the first Jayhawk Match of the spring season as they opened their spring season at home at Mariah Hills golf course in Dodge City. The ladies posted a two-round score of 620 to take first place by 44-strokes over Barton who placed second as a team.
To win a championship is a tough task to repeat and successfully defend that championship that’s another level and the Dodge City cheer squad did just that as they laid claim to the Region VI Championships for the second straight year.
The clubs were swinging well to open the spring season for the Dodge City men’s golf team as they competed in the first Jayhawk Match of the spring that was hosted at Colbert Hills golf course in Manhattan and the Conquistador won the event.
The Bucklin Red Aces baseball team split a doubleheader with Elkhart as the Red Aces won the first game 4-0 but lost the second game 5-6. In the first game Nate Bowman threw a shutout to lead Bucklin Monday. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out 13. Hayden Ogorzolka had a dinger in the sixth inning for Bucklin and racked up eight hits in the game. Izaiah Pearce and Ogorzolka all managed multiple hits for Bucklin. Ogorzolka and Pearce each collected two hits to lead Bucklin.
Bucklin Red Aces softball team remained undefeated as they beat Elkhart Monday night. The Red Aces one the first game 14-10 and won the second game 21-13 to end the night 4-0 on the season.
Dodge City track and field team opened the outdoor season traveling to Winfield, Kansas to compete in the Jinx Invite hosted by Southwestern College. Highlighting the action for the Conquistadors was a national qualifying performance and a few other top-notch performances as well.
