Dodge City’s Mendez, Barker take national titles in wrestling

Dodge City wrestling stand outs Damian Mendez (senior) and Luke Barker (junior) have continued to add to their already impressive resumes. This past weekend the multiple time state champions added National Champion to their accolades. Competing against the nation’s best high school wrestlers at the National High School Coaches Association High School Nationals in Virginia Beach, Virginia, both were able to navigate through their brackets full of nationally ranked opponents, state champions and state placers from all over the country.

Bucklin baseball: Red Aces split with Elkhart

The Bucklin Red Aces baseball team split a doubleheader with Elkhart as the Red Aces won the first game 4-0 but lost the second game 5-6. In the first game Nate Bowman threw a shutout to lead Bucklin Monday. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out 13. Hayden Ogorzolka had a dinger in the sixth inning for Bucklin and racked up eight hits in the game. Izaiah Pearce and Ogorzolka all managed multiple hits for Bucklin. Ogorzolka and Pearce each collected two hits to lead Bucklin.

DCCC: National qualifying mark leads track & field performances as Conqs open outdoor season at Jinx Invite

Dodge City track and field team opened the outdoor season traveling to Winfield, Kansas to compete in the Jinx Invite hosted by Southwestern College. Highlighting the action for the Conquistadors was a national qualifying performance and a few other top-notch performances as well.
