Going into the 6A state tournament the Red Demons knew there was little room for error in the team race. The difference between first and sixth place was going to be razor thin and that is exactly how the state team race panned out.
This year the Dodge City High school has a few bowlers qualified for the state tournament. In order to qualify for the state tournament, participants need to have to be one of the top 3 teams or be a top 6 individuals of non-qualifying teams at their regional meet to make it to state.

The Spearville girls basketball team emerged victorious in their contest with Minneola with a 60-44 victory at home recently. Minneola wrapped up their season with a 10-11 record, while the Lady Lancers advance to take on 17-3 Kiowa County.
Eight middle school wrestling teams competed in the WAC League Tournament on Friday in Hays. Hays middle school was able to win the tournament by one point over Great Bend.
The Dodge City Lady Demons have reached the pinnacle of high school sports: State Champions. Locked in an exciting team point race with Topeka Washburn Rural for the whole tournament, the Dodge City girls were able to leave Hartman Arena as the 2022 5A/6A state champions.
Dodge City men’s basketball team closed out the regular season with a tough battle against Barton, securing the 87-86 win late with free throws giving the Conquistadors their first win over the Cougars in Great Bend since 2016.
The Bucklin Red Aces picked up a 55-48 over the Minneola Wildcats to end the regular season with a record of 16-5. The Red Aces were led by Jaron Lindsay with 18 points, 6 rebounds and one block.
The Spearville boys and girls basketball team wrapped up their last home games of the regular season on Tuesday. The boys team were unable to get a win but the girls did pick the win over South Gray.
It was Senior Night for the Dodge City High School boys and girls basketball team, and they were determined not to spoil it by losing to rival Liberal. The Lady Demons took the court first and they were motivated to seek revenge for an early season loss to Liberal earlier this year.
