The No. 2 state ranked Lady Demons were on a mission Saturday as they took on some of the best teams in the state at Regionals hosted by Wichita North. The 16-team regional featured the No. 1, No. 2, No. 7 and No. 8 ranked teams in the state.
The Lady Aces won Friday’s home game against Macksville by a score of 65-44. The Lady Aces were able to move the ball around to overcome the Macksville full court trap.
The Spearville Lancers varsity basketball team lost Friday against Meade by a score of 53-38. The Lancers were outscored in every quarter of the game but the fourth quarter as they outscored Meade 7-6.
The Bucklin Red Aces varsity boys’ basketball team lost Friday’s home non-conference game against Macksville by a score of 70-52. The Red Aces were able to keep it close in the first half of play as Macksville took a 32-30 lead into half time.
The Spearville girls’ varsity basketball team won Friday’s game against Meade by a score of 53-47. Spearville leading scorers were Tessa Kueker 16 points, Tawnee Krominga 11 points and Anna Stein with 10 points on the night. Kara Brakey made a huge impact in this game as she finished with 16 rebounds.
Dodge City completed the WAC duals with a 51-15 victory over Liberal. The boy’s team will finish in 2nd behind Garden City in the WAC standings. The boys will head to the western super regional which is considered tougher than the state tournament. Eight of the top 10 ranked teams are in the region vying for a state tournament spot.
The Dodge City High School bowling team traveled to Great Bend on Friday. The Lady Demons were led by Jaden Rabe fourth place finish with 564 series and Camryn Lenz fifth place finish with 551 series. Great Bend Girls had three bowlers in the top five and as a result Great Bend won the Meet. The boys team was led by Auston Barnett’s fourth place finish with a 552 series. Kaden Webb and Avonte Nichols both finished with a 515 series. The Bowling team is back in action next week as the make the trip back to great bend for the WAC event.
Dodge City men’s basketball made it a season sweep of the Hutchinson Blue Dragons for the first time since 2006 as the No. 6 Conquistadors took down No.
The Dodge City High School bowling team traveled to Garden City and faced Garden City High School and Holcomb High School. The Lady Demons were led by Camryn Lenz 606 series that helped her take home a 1st place finish on the day. Jaden Rab bowled a 544 and that was good enough to take home a 4th place finish. The Girls Bowling was able to beat out Holcomb to secure a second place finish in the meet. The Boys team was led by Ethan Pogue 581 series,
The Dodge City Red Demons Swimming team had an amazing WAC championship swim as they took home second place. Great Bend was able to take home the WAC championship by out-scoring Dodge City 438.50-421.
