The Bucklin Red Aces picked up a win on the road, knocking off the Meade Buffaloes, 59-53. The Buffaloes opened with a 18-17 lead after one, then the Red Aces took over in the second quarter, allowing only eight points and scoring 11 points to take a 28-26 lead into halftime.
Dodge City women’s basketball hit the road in conference play on Thursday and took on rival Garden City in a contest that went down to the wire with the Broncbusters using late free throws to hand the Conquistadors the 59-54 loss.
Dodge City football program continues to move forward and new Head Coach, Terry Karg has his Offensive Coordinator in place for the Conquistadors as Richard Dorceus comes over from Monroe College where he coached under Coach Karg for the past three years to now be on staff at Dodge City.
For the first time since early December, the Dodge City women’s basketball team is on a winning streak after beating Colby on the road Monday night in a makeup game, claiming the 78-68 victory. The win moved the Conquistadors to 13-8 on the season and back to over .500 in KJCCC play at 8-7.
The Dodge City track and field team looked to continue to improve in the indoor season as they competed in their second meet of the indoor season on Sunday traveling to Pittsburg, Kansas to compete in the Region VI/KJCCC Invite hosted by Pittsburg State University.
The Dodge City Red Demons boys’ basketball team improved to 14-1 overall, 3-0 in the WAC with a 70-49 win over Garden City. Garden City tried to stop the Red Demons early, but it was unsuccessful as the first quarter ended with DCHS up 20-13.
The Dodge City High School boys and girls bowling team lost to Garden City on Tuesday afternoon. Kaden Webb led the boys’ team with a top series of 616 and took second place and Auston Barnett finished in third place.
The Dodge City Lady Demons improved to 13-2 overall and 2-1 in the WAC after beating Garden City 48-43. Garden City took a 13-9 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Demons scored 19 points in the second quarter to cut the Garden City lead to 2 points.
The Spearville Lancers are now 7-6 with a 44-40 win over the Satanta Indians. The Lancers ended the first quarter up 13-7 but the Indians were not going down without a fight as they scored 10 points in the second quarter to end the half only down by two.
Anytime you can finish in the top 5 at the Rocky Welton Invitational is a success. The 64th annual wrestling tournament hosted by Garden City High School featured top teams from Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska, Texas and New Mexico.
