Dodge City swept visiting Pratt in a high school boys and girls wrestling season-opening dual between stateranked teams Thursday night. The top-ranked (D1) Demons boys coasted to a 60-15 victory and girls won their final three matches against the top-ranked (D2) Greenbacks to win 34- 24.

The Red Demons season opened Friday, against the experienced-and-talented McPherson Bullpups, playing before a big crowd at the historic Civic Center. The Bullpups came out shooting, bolting to a 30-22 halftime lead.
The Dodge City Lady Demons basketball socked McPherson High School with an 8-0 gut punch to start the game, but the Bullpups played hard to get back into the game. In the end, however, the height and length of the Red Demons, especially in their 3-2 zone, made it difficult for the Bullpups to get much going offensively in a 45- 33 loss.
