Men’s cross country races at Emporia State Invite

Dodge City men’s cross country wrapped up the regular season of races by competing at the Emporia State Invite and finished fourth as a team.Pacing the Conquistadors on the day was the performance of Juan Gomez-Lira who posted a time of 29:11.56 to finish in 23rd place.Bryan Mendoza raced to a 32nd place finish with a time of 29:43.72, while Juan Badillo finished 35th behind a time of 30:37.50.

Women’s cross country competes at Emporia State Invite

Dodge City women’s cross country wrapped up the regular season of races by competing at the Emporia State Invite and finished third as a team.Leading the way for the Conquistadors was a sub-20-minute time from Sarai Chavez who behind a time of 19:50.11 placed ninth.Daniela Cerda notched the second-best performance for the Conqs posting a time of 21:04.71 to finish 19th, while Abbi Worden finished 24th with a time of 21:16.44.

Men’s soccer falls to Garden City

Dodge City men’s soccer continued Jayhawk Conference play hosting rival Garden City and would be unable to stay with the Broncbusters in the second half playing a man down leading to a 4-2 loss.The loss drops the Conquistadors to 4-9-1 on the season and 3-6-1 in conference play.The Conqs flew out of the gates making a run early in the first minute of the contest and Theo Hoang would grab possession back from Garden City in the attacking third.

Women’s soccer plays to a draw against Garden City

The Dodge City women’s soccer team snapped a four-game losing streak as Jayhawk Conference play continued with a clash against rival Garden City but the Conquistadors ended up settling for a 2-2 tie.The Conqs with the tie moved to 3-8-3 on the season and 3-7-3 in KJCCC action, while it also marked 17 straight matches in the series with Garden City the Conqs have not lost to the Broncbusters.Back-and-forth early over the first 10 minutes of play as both teams generated a couple of opportunities but neither team broke through.

Football uses big third quarter to beat Ellsworth

For the second straight year the Dodge City football team will finish with a winning record in the season series with the Iowa schools after a 39-15 victory over Ellsworth; going 2-1 against the three Iowa schools.The win moves the Conquistadors to 4-3 on the season, evens the all-time series at 6-6 against the Panthers of Ellsworth, and sends the Conqs into the bye week off a victory.The Conqs would open the contest electing to kick off and would force a three-and-out that would see Ellsworth snap the ball over the head of their punter into the endzone giving the Conqs a safety to start the game.

Volleyball pulls off reverse sweep against Hutchinson

Put it in reverse….that’s what the Dodge City volleyball team did for the second time this season both in conference play completed a reserve sweep as they earned a five-set win over Hutchinson.The Conquistadors dropped the first two sets but responded by winning the next three sets to win the match 18-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-7 to move to 17-10 on the season, 8-2 in the KJCCC, and 8-1 at home.Conqs fell behind early in the first set as Hutchinson put together an early 5-0 run to lead 7-3 and that lead grew to 12-6 for the Blue Dragons.

Men’s golf competes at NCAA DI Grier Jones Shocker Invitational

Dodge City men’s golf team competed at an NCAA Division I event hosted by Wichita State over three days at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton competing against some top-flight competition.The Conquistadors finished 14th as a team with a three-round score of 912 (+48), posting rounds of 307, 298, and 307.Leading the Conqs for the tournament was Rhys Nicholas, who finished tied for 34th with a 221 (+5) score, posting rounds of 77, 72, and 72.

Women’s soccer unable to stay with Cowley falling on the road

For the third straight match and the eighth time this season the Dodge City women’s soccer team faced off with a ranked opponent this time taking on #11 Cowley on the road suffering a 4-0 defeat.The Conquistadors with the loss drop to 3-8-2 on the season and 3-7-3 in conference play with four matches remaining in the regular season.The Conqs would keep things tight throughout the first 20 minutes as both teams were held off the scoreboard, but the Tigers broke through in the 20th minute to take the lead.
