Dodge City – Chris Vance Enlow, 67, of Dodge City passed away on May 21, 2022 surrounded by his family at St. Catherine Hospital in Dodge City. He was born on June 5, 1954 to Cressie and Blanche (Vance) Enlow in Dodge City.
Chris attended Bell Center, a oneroom schoolhouse, through 6th grade before attending Dodge City schools. After graduating from Dodge City High School in 1972, he went on to study diesel mechanics at Dodge City Community College. He started dating his first and forever love, Janet (Maheiu) Enlow, in February of 1980 and married six months later on November 1. They had four daughters; Kristie, Kody, Kacey and Kelli.
Chris got his first and forever job farming alongside his father and formally established Enlow Farms, Inc. in 1984. He dedicated his life to being a steward of his land and livestock and was an expert at growing wheat, milo, cattle and daughters.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City and served as a deacon and elder. He was a cancer survivor. He enjoyed farming alongside his daughters, spoiling their dogs and spoiling his five grandchildren.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Beverly Reinhardt; and brother-in-law, Mark Reinhardt. He is survived by his wife, Janet; his children, Kristie (Jason) Anderson, Kody (Adam) Grant, Kacey (Adam) Stegman, and Kelli Enlow and fiance Jan Smith; his five grandchildren, Kaden, Parker, and Liam Anderson, and Cayson and Kinlee Stegman; a sister, Barbara Higby; and dozens of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at First Christian Church in Dodge City on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 10:00 AM with Dusty Cookson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel in Dodge City on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 from 1:00 PM 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or Ford County 4H Scholarship Foundation in care of the funeral home.
