Christi Reineke

Dodge City -Christi E. Reineke, 55, of Dodge City, lost her battle with cancer on March 7, 2022. Christi was born on December 23 1966 in Vinita, Oklahoma to Gafton “Jack” and Judy (Wagner) Colgin.

Christi grew up in Vinita, Oklahoma and attended Will Rogers Elementary School. She loved swimming and being a Bluebird in the Camp Fire Girls organization. She loved spending time with her family, her grandparents and favorite Aunt Alice. She was always very close to her Wagner grandparents in Vinita and enjoyed time tinkering with grandpa and visiting with grandma.

The Colgin family moved to Dodge City in 1977 where she attended Lincoln Elementary and graduated from Dodge City High School in 1985. She then met the love of her life, Jeff Reineke, and they were married on August 5, 1989.

Christi and Jeff planted their roots in Dodge City where she worked for the WalMart Corporation for many years. Jeff worked for the grocery rival Dillons (Kroger Corporation) for the past 29 years. After 27 years at Walmart, Christi joined her husband at Dillons, working for the Fuel Center there. Christi and Jeff were the perfect match for each other and together they could do anything.

Christi was baptized in the Methodist Church in Vinita, Oklahoma. She and Jeff were members of the Christian Church in Dodge City. She loved making ceramics, crafts, crocheting, attending water aerobics classes, playing with her dogs and spending time with her husband. They adopted many dogs over the years and volunteered for the Ford County Humane Society.

One of her favorite things to do was taking vacation time to spend with her parents in Linn Valley, Kansas and her sister, Cyndy Steen and family in Shawnee. They would boat and fish and watch and attend Kansas City sporting events. She loved to watch classic old movies, especially with her dad. Another passion of Christi’s was her extended family. She loved all of her nieces dearly and loved spending as much time with them as possible.

Christi is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Reineke of Dodge City, Kansas; her parents, Gafton “Jack” and Judith (Judy) Colgin of Shawnee; her sister, Cyndy Steen and brother -in-law Chad of Shawnee; three nieces, Alyson (Steen) Hodges, Hanna Steen, and Kaytie Snovelle; and one great nephew, Shaun Hodges.
