On Saturday, May 13 Dodge City Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Chapter Regent Katie Schmidt, and Chapter Historian Patty Winger, presented Betty J. Sandadota Washburn an appreciation gift basket and Certificate of Excellence in Display of Citizenship at the annual Satanta Days Celebration. Betty is the Great Great Granddaughter of Chief Satanta. She goes out and talks about her Great Great Grandfather to keep his heritage alive. Betty and her family recently wrote a letter expressing their support of the Satanta Schools keeping their mascot as the Indian.
