Dodge City – Dennis Burton “Burt” Davis, 81, passed away on April 21, 2022 at his home in Dodge City. He was born on December 26, 1940 at Dodge City, the son of Walter and Bessie (Coate) Davis.
A lifelong Dodge City resident Burt was a graduate of Dodge City Senior High School and also attended Dodge City Junior College. On August 11, 1963 he married Mary Lou Baker. They were blessed with two daughters, Regina Lynette Hanneman and Patricia LeAnn Kalvoda, five grandchildren and two great granddaughters.
Burt loved anything on wheels from scooters and go-karts as a child, to racing motorcycles and jalopies, and flying his Beachcraft Bonanza and ultra lights going full circle as he could be seen putting around town on his electric trike in recent day. It was no wonder that he believed that with the purchase of Burt’s Cycle Center, a Honda and Harley Davidson Dealership, he had landed the ultimate job.
Upon retirement from the motorcycle business, he purchased yet another set of wheels, that being a motorhome. He enjoyed touring the United States, Canada, and Mexico in it, visiting friends and family along the way.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Dodge City. Burt was also a member of World Mission Builders working on projects in the United States and Mexico. He had also held memberships in the Goldwing Riders Club, Harley Davidson Owners Group, Christian Motorcycle Association and the Civil Air Patrol.
Burt is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Davis of Dodge City; two daughters, Gina Hanneman and husband Paul of Andover and LeAnn Kalvoda of Thornton, Colorado; his grandchildren, Ashley Sramek and husband Kellen, Keehn Hanneman, Drew Kalvoda, Paige Kalvoda, and Merrik Hanneman; great granddaughters, Haddie Paige and Camri Lou; and sister, Boo Dragoun; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and cherished friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Miriam Winfrey, Floyd “Dutch” Davis and Larry Davis.
