Donald Albert DuPree

BUCKLIN – Donald Albert DuPree (Donnie) 72, died Wednesday September 7, 2022, at Bucklin.

He was born on March 13, 1950 in Dodge City, Kansas to Rex O. DuPree Sr. and Melva (Snyder) DuPree Paxman. He attended school in Dodge City.

He married Paulette Irene DuPree (Kreie) on May 26,1969 in Enid, Oklahoma, she died July 19, 2019.

Donnie worked at the Dodge City, Ford, and Kingsdown Cooperative Exchange and the Kansas Highway Department. Before becoming a full time junker with his best friend Guy Root.

He had a passion for junking and going to swap meets. He loved a good game of cards. He enjoyed watching Nascar races on TV and going to the local racetracks to watch family and friend’s race. He loved going fishing with his son and his friends and he liked to tell a few fishing stories. Donnie also loved the sound of a group motorcycles and riding them with his friends. If you stopped by to say hi to Donnie, you would usually find him in his easy chair watching American Pickers series or listening to old time country music station on tv and he’d either be singing or napping. When Donnie lived in Bloom, he would spend hours visiting with the truckers on his CB radio. One would holler hey “Flaky” short for “Post Toasty” and he would be right there on the radio visiting away as the truckers drove down highway 54.

Survivors include: 1 son, Don DuPree Jr, wife Teresa, Bucklin; 2 daughters Julie Birney husband Carl, Bucklin and Lori Wiens, husband Jeff, Hutchinson; 1 brother Raymond DuPree wife Shirley Dodge City, step sister Ellen Ann Cramer, Colorado; 2 Brother in laws Don Steele, Kinsley; Don Kreie, Hutchinson; 1 sister-in-law Delores Bernash, Dodge City; 15 grandkids and 24 great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step dad, William Paxman, 2 brothers, Rex (Ikie) DuPree and Lloyd DuPree; 3 sisters, Rowena Steele, Delores Jones, Phyllis DuPree; 2 step brothers, Donald Paxman and Greg Paxman; 3 brothers-inlaw, Estel Kreie, Bud Kreie and Stanley Jones; and 5 sisters-in-law, Nina DuPree, Sue Kreie, Vera Culver, Rosey Mowdy and Shirley Kreie.

A celebration of life will be held on October 30th @ 11:00 am with a graveside service at the Ford Cemetery, Ford, Kansas and a get together following at the Bucklin Legion Building in Bucklin, Kansas. There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place.
