Gabriel Dean Johnson died on October 18, 2022 in Lawrence, Kansas. He was born on July 25, 2003 in Hastings, Nebraska to Aaron and Amber (Smith) Johnson. Gabriel was a 2022 graduate of Spearville High School, Spearville, Kansas. Gabriel spent the first 6 years of his life in Hastings, NE before moving with his family to Dodge City, Kansas. He enjoyed traveling and camping in Colorado and New Mexico with his family. Gabriel was known for his sense of humor. He loved joking around with friends, co-workers and family. Gabriel was currently a student studying Chemical Engineering at the University of Kansas.

He followed KU Sports and the NBA, especially the Denver Nuggets. He was a member of Cross Connection Church in Dodge City. He loved Jesus Christ as his Savior and his soul now is spending eternity with him in heaven. Gabriel is survived by his parents, Amber and Aaron Johnson, Dodge City; brothers, Drew Johnson and Luke Johnson; grandparents, John and Regina Johnson of Colby, Kansas; grandmother, Effie Smith of Marion, Kansas; uncle and aunt, Bryan and Joanna Johnson (Rachel/Michael, Logan, Leanna); uncle and aunt, Richard and Echo Smith (Brandon, Charlotte, Mason Jeremy, David, Jacob, De, Dj,); uncle and aunt Ron and Kristen Jackson; many great aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Dean Smith.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00am, on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Cross Connection Church in Dodge City, Kansas. In Iieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made in Gabriel’s memory to Cross Connection Church c/o Johnson Memorial, 3500 N. 14th St., PO Box 1611, Dodge City, KS 67801. The memorials will be used for establishment of scholarships.
