J. Hayes Baldwin

Kalvesta – J. Hayes Baldwin, 95, died Monday March 28, 2022 at Hodgeman County Health Center in Jetmore. He was born on October 03, 1926 in Cimarron, the son of Ivan and Elizabeth Baldwin.

Hayes grew up in Finney County. He attended Cimarron High School. On October 15, 1944, Hayes married Olive Sinclair at the Kalvesta Methodist Church. They made their home on the farm at Kalvesta. Hayes was the founder of Kalvesta Implement Company, where he continued to come in on a daily basis until his passing. He was active in 4-H and regularly participated in the livestock auctions. Hayes and Olive enjoyed holding numerous swimming parties and wheat shows for their church and youth groups.

He was a member of the Kalvesta Methodist Church.

He is survived by three daughters, Shari (Boehlke) Ward (Terry Ward) of Wichita, Dee Baldwin of Cimarron, and Cathy Baldwin of Kalvesta; one son, Bruce Baldwin (Debbie) of Cimarron. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Todd (Amanda) Boehlke, Kara Boehlke, Jon (Lindsay) Boehlke, Jason (Janet) Dick, Jeremy (Crystal) Dick, Morgan (Anthony) Mendoza, and Corbin Baldwin; and eight great grandchildren, Kade, Bella, Blair, Paige, Josh, Jeremiah, Alora, Dutch, and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olive; three sisters, Margaret, Francis, and Dorothy; one son-in-law, Dick Boehlke; and one grandson, Christopher.

Funeral service will be held at the Cimarron United Methodist Church on Saturday April, 2, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Mike Keating presiding. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Cimarron on Friday, April 1, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family present from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army, K-State College of Veterinary Medicine, or to Alzheimers Research in care of the funeral home.
