James Paul Chapman

DODGE CITY-James Paul Chapman, 93, died Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Western Plains Medical Complex. He was born on July 25, 1928 in Butler, Oklahoma the son of Paul and Nancy (Beeson) Chapman.

James grew up in Barry County, Missouri. He moved to Dodge City from Wichita Kansas 48 years ago.

On December 26, 1952 he married Marie Chapman at Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2003. He was stationed in Germany as a diesel mechanic with the United States Army and continued as a diesel mechanic throughout his life.

James loved his family and also had a love for volunteering, traveling and taking lots of photos on these trips, he also enjoyed doing genealogy research. The last job he had was working for the train station which he worked at until November of last year. Survivors include: son, Ezra Chapman and wife April, Temecula, California; daughter, Naomi McLean, Dodge City; sister, Bonnie Stockton, Jenkins, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Steven Chapman, Garden City, Kansas, Regina Hardwick and husband Jacob, Wheaton, Missouri, Blake Chapman and wife Crystal, Temecula, California, Erica McLean, Dodge City, and Taylor Chapman, Temecula, California; 8 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sue Chapman, brother, Alfred Chapman and sister, Clara Daniel. Graveside services with full military honors will be 11:00 am Wednesday February 9, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge with Elder Mark Hardwick officiating. Friends may call Tuesday February 8, 2022 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
