Jan Dean (Gregg) Goodwin

CLEVELAND – Jan Dean (Gregg) Goodwin, age 62, of Cleveland, TN passed away December 19, 2021. She was born at Dodge City, KS, January 17, 1959. She was the daughter of Donald and Betty (Mathis) Gregg.

Jan attended the Dodge City school system graduating from DCHS in 1977. Active in school activities, Jan was a school cheerleader and a member of the 1976 “Red Demon” Marching Band where she marched in the 87th Tournament of Roses parade playing her saxophone. Jan attended Emporia State University, graduating from Newman University earning her degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary school in both Kansas and Tennessee.

In 1999, Jan began working for The TN State Department of Children Services in Knoxville where she was instrumental in working with children and families.

On the 17th of August 2000, Jan married Thomas E. Goodwin of Cleveland, TN. He survives of the home.

She is also survived by a son, Zach Parker Edwards, TN, her sister, Gay (Gregg) Willson-Hughes, Goddard, KS, Sister-in-law, Barbara (Gregg) Nebbeling, Dodge City, nephew Matt Huston, Aurora, CO, nieces Emma (Gregg) Keeten , Olivia, Allison and Betsy Gregg, Dodge City. Jan is preceded in death by her parents, sister Beth Gregg Huston and brother Gil Gregg.

A private funeral service will be held in McDonald, TN. Her family request that friends consider a donation to a local pet rescue organization or plant a tree in her honor.
