BUCKLIN – Joanna Jean Davis passed away in her sleep on December 14, 2021 in Bucklin, Kansas after a lengthy battle with multiple illnesses. She was 48.
Joanna was born on April 9, 1973 in Buffalo, Oklahoma to Carl and Sue Davis and was raised in Bucklin, Kansas. She graduated in 1991 from Bucklin High School and earned an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (LPN) from Dodge City Community College in 1993. She earned her Bachelors in Nursing (RN) from Excelsior College in New York in 1995. Joanna worked at Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City, Kansas on the Second Floor Med Surg, for Interim Healthcare in Tulsa, Oklahoma in the Cancer Treatment Center & Hillcrest Medical Center, and Cross-Country Healthcare Staffing in Tulsa in the Orthology, Neurology, and Oncology departments. After being a lifelong resident of Bucklin, Joanna moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she resided for 4 years before returning to Bucklin due to health issues. After battling kidney issues since birth & having both removed, Joanna graciously received a lifesaving kidney transplant from her niece Kari Fehr (Davis) in 2001, for which Joanna and her family members were eternally grateful for, as it added over 20 years to her life. She loved her many nephews & nieces and collecting Precious Moments. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Bucklin. As an avid collector, Joanna cultivated multiple friendships in the Precious Moments community in all parts of the world.
Joanna was preceded in death by grandparents, Helen and Elmo Lake, Joseph and Maude Davis, and nephew, Seth Davis, as well as several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her parents, Carl and Sue Davis of Bucklin, brothers, Mark Davis and wife Shannon, Dodge City, Jeff Davis and wife Michelle, Dodge City, and Joe Davis and wife Pamela, Bucklin, sister, Carla Copeland, Bucklin, multiple Aunts and Uncles, Cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be missed very much by all of her family members and friends.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Bucklin Worship Center with Rev. Kevin Salzman officiating. Burial will follow in the Bucklin Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday at Minnis Mortuary, Bucklin.
