CIMARRON – Mary Karlene Woods-Koehn, 82, died November 28, 2021 at UCHealth Memorial Hospital Central, Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on April 27, 1939 at Corpus Christi, Texas the daughter of Edgar W. and Fern M. (Charlet) Steinkuehler.
Karlene was a Kalvesta and Cimarron resident most of her life, recently moving to Ft. Garland, Colorado with her husband Jerry. She worked as a waitress as a young girl in the Great Bend area, as well as Cimarron and Kalvesta Café, while raising her family. Karlene enjoyed farming alongside her husband Butch Woods and later owned and operated Aerial Sprayers with husband Jerry in Cimarron area prior to retiring.
She married Virgil “Butch” Woods in May of 1958 in Larned, he preceded her in death on August 18, 1995. In June of 1996 she married Jerry Koehn in Cimarron.
Karlene is survived by her husband, Jerry Koehn of Ft. Garland, Colorado; three sons, Rick Woods and wife Judy of Cimarron, Trent Woods and wife Sheri of Cimarron, and Todd Woods and wife Traci Woods of Dodge City; a daughter, Denice Cragg and husband Gene of Fowler; daughter-in-law, Patty Woods of Cimarron; step-son, Larry Koehn and wife Rachel of Dodge City; nine grandchildren, Amber, Kandra, Mindy, Tyler, Genice, Chase, Ryan, Justin, and Casey; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Mullens and Janet Hamilton and husband Cary; and two brothers, Charles Steinkuehler and wife Enid and Randy Steinkuehler. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, David Woods, sisters, Lucy and Winnie, and brother, Tuffy.
Funeral service will be held at the Cimarron Nazarene Church on Saturday December 4, 2021 at 10:30 AM with Mr. David Johnson presiding. Burial will follow at Cimarron Cemetery in Cimarron. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel of Cimarron on Friday December 3, 2021 from Noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Prairie or Cimarron Nazarene Church both in care of the funeral home.
