KATHY K. (STEINKUEHLER) KONRADE

DODGE CITY – Kathy K. (Steinkuehler) Konrade, 67, died Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at her home in Dodge City, Kansas, surrounded by family. She was born on January 10, 1956 at Thierville (en) Musse, France the daughter of Carl (Jiggs) V. and Viola B. (Peterson) Steinkuehler. She married George (Tom) Konrade on March 11th, 1978. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, President of Meals on Wheels, and Retired Director of Child Nutrition for USD 443, all in Dodge City. Kathy worked for USD 443 Child Nutrition for over 37 years – feeding thousands of hungry children along the way. Kathy started as a baker and later opened St. Mary’s Kitchen and Soule Kitchen as the Manager. While raising children, animals, and working, she attended Friends University obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management/Leadership. Throughout her hard work she would ultimately obtain the position of Director of Child Nutrition for USD 443.

Kathy enjoyed reading, constructing Legos, attending sporting events of her children and grandchildren, and watching the Chiefs and Wheel of Fortune with her husband. She was an avid seamstress (especially Halloween costumes) and loved quilting and singing with her sisters (out-of-tune) and mother. Over the years, she rescued many strays in need of a loving home. She was an ace in the kitchen; from cooking German food at her son’s restaurant to spoiling the entire family with the cookies and cakes that she hand decorated. Her holiday dishes were top notchto which her nieces and nephews can attest. Kathy wanted to be sure that anyone who was hungry had a mealwhether two-legged or four. Survivors include: her husband Tom Konrade, Dodge City; 3 sons, Matthew Konrade (Susan), Corn, Oklahoma, Shiloh Konrade and Logan Konrade both of Dodge City; 2 daughters, Cassandra Konrade and Katrina Konrade both of Dodge City; 2 grandsons, Jayden and Jordan Keovixay; 6 sisters, Terry Skinner, Rio Rancho, New Mexico, Vicki Austin (Jim), Dodge City, Becky Steinkuehler, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lindy Duree (Warren), Dodge City, Sandy Ontiberos, Dodge City, and Tammy Schweitzer (Randy), Wright, Kansas; sister-in-law, Janice Salem (Danny), Ulysses, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews and also many beloved pets. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl (Jiggs) and Viola Steinkuehler, nephew, Caleb Steinkuehler, and numerous aunts and uncles. Memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no public viewing as Kathy donated her body to KU School of Medicine for research.
