Larry Schoen died unexpectedly in his home Aug. 15, 2012, at the age of 65. He was the son of Clarence and Pauline (Mishler) Schoen. He was graduate of Dodge City High School, Dodge City Community College, and Kansas State University. Major Schoen joined ROTC on the Manhattan campus and completed 20 years in the United States Air Force before retiring in 1990.
Larry was married to Glenda Bradburn in October of 1986. In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by one sister, Patsy (Michael) Weddell of Newton, Iowa; three sons, Clay (Sarah) Schoen of San Diego, Calif., Scott (Angie) Schoen of San Diego, and Brett (Lynn) Griffin of Seattle, Wash. Survivors also include several grandchildren and Larry has an extended family in the Dodge City area.
A memorial service will be held in Dodge City at date yet to be determined. The family suggests that memorials may be made in Larry's honor to Wounded Warriors, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, or other charities that support veterans and their families.
