Opal Eichman

Jetmore Opal Marlene Eichman Sonday, 80, passed away March 20, 2022 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington.

She was born June 24, 1941 in Hodgeman County, the daughter of Wallie O. and Grace Lilly Demoret.

A lifetime area resident, she was an X-Ray Technician and an EMT. After retiring as an X-Ray Technician in 2006, she continued working at Bramley Place. She was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Moose Lodge, Genealogy Society, Red Hat Ladies, and Kansas Society of Radiologic Technicians. She was an amazing mother and a caregiver all her life.

On January 17, 1957 she married Kenneth Leroy Eichman; they later divorced.

On March 19, 2005 she married LeRoy Sonday at Jetmore; he preceded her in death on July 25, 2006.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kenda Leigh (Delane Lampe) Mariche and Corrine Marie (Manuel) Torrez, both of Jetmore; son, Kevin Delane Eichman, Dodge City; three step sons, Billy (Cheri) Sonday, Dodge City, Bruce Sonday, Ensign, Brian (Stephanie) Sonday, Cimarron; seventeen grandchildren, LaReina, Kasey, Lindsey, Kiley, Shea, Chase, Tre’, D’Layna, Britton, Bryce, Kolby, Colton, Cameron, Clara, Caitlyn, Crimson, Cade; and nineteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; one sister, Isabel Pottroff; five brothers, Winifred Demoret, Harold Demoret, Clarence Demoret, Harry Cohoon and Vernon Cohoon; and one granddaughter, Anisa Suzanne Torrez.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, 2022 at United Presbyterian Church, Jetmore, with Reverend Mark Durham presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Beckwith Funeral Home, Jetmore. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Jetmore.
