Baby giraffe born in Garden City
Lee Richardson Zoo received a late Christmas present on Dec. 26 and is happy to announce the arrival of a reticulated giraffe calf. Born at 11:15 a.m., this is the third calf for mom, Cleo, age 9, and dad, Juani, age 13. Zoo staff performed a well-baby check on Dec. 27 after giving mom and baby some time to bond. Mom and baby are doing fine.

Robert “Bob”D. Hill
Robert Hill Dodge City - Robert “Bob” D. Hill, 79, died December 8, 2022 at Manor of the Plains in Dodge City. He was born on March 31, 1943 at Dodge City, Kansas the son of Kenneth and Fannie (Miller) Hill. Bob was engaged in farming for several years before going to work at Curtis Machine as a draftsman. He was a very loving and caring person and willing to help anyone in need. Bob enjoyed gardening and would raise extra vegetables for friends and family and also shared his bounty with the Friendship Feast. He is survived by his two brothers Byron Hill and wife Erlene of Dodge City and Roger Hill and wife Kim Denton-Hill of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister. Memorial service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Monday January 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM with Dusty Cookson presiding. Inurnment will be held at 2:30 PM January 2, 2023 at Bucklin Cemetery in Bucklin, Kansas. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are suggested to Community Garden, Friendship Feast or Dodge City Library in care of the funeral home. DODGE CITY- Concepcion Lenoyr Campos, 67, died Sunday, December 25, 2022 at St. Catherine’s of Dodge City. He was born February 11, 1955 at Maconi, Queretaro, Mexico, the son of Agustin Lenoyr Zungia and Eloisa Campos. On December 24, 1979 he married Leticia Rodriguez in Villa Ocampo, Durango, Mexico. He moved to Dodge City in 1997. Survivors include: his wife of 43 years; son, Erick Lenoyr and wife Jackie, Dodge City; daughter, Irma Janeth Lenoyr and husband Alfonso Alonso, Dodge City; daughter, Lizbeth Lenoyr, Dodge City; son, Saul Lenoyr and wife Yvette Carrillo, Juarez, Mexico; a brother, Rosalio Lenoyr and wife Rosario Garcia, Puebla, Mexico; his 9 grandchildren; Brandon, Emily, Ariana, Ashley, Emilio, Isaac, Julian, Stella and Lynette; and 2 nieces, Rocio Lenoyr and Ivonne Lenoyr both of San Francisco, California. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 10:00am at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City with Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding.
