Winter Weather Emergency Reminder

Just a quick reminder from Ford County Emergency Management, if you have not already taken notice of the winter weather, notifications that have gone out this weekend you should know that some areas will have multiple concerns coming at us for this week and next week including snow, ice, wind chill, and power bumps possible. Local sports to start your new year

BUNKER HILL – Smoky Hills PBS will air a day of local sports on New Year’s Day! The day will kick off at noon with the KSHSAA 8-Player State Football Championship (DI and DII). Next, will be The Jackie Stiles Story at 5:30 p.m. followed by the 2022 KS Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.

Girls wrestling dominates tournament

The Lady Demons traveled to Basehor-Linwood to compete against 33 teams from across Kansas in what is a premier Kansas girls wrestling event Dec. 17.

Wreaths Across America honors 1,500 local fallen veterans

Volunteers from the region came to the Fort Dodge Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery to place wreaths on veteran’s graves as part of a nationwide observance to honor and remember our veterans. Wreaths Across America coordinates wreath-laying ceremonies at more than 3,400 locations in the United States.

Lionel Messi, wearing a black Qatari robe over his blue-and-white Argentina shirt, kissed the World Cup, shuffled toward his teammates and hoisted the golden trophy high in the air. It was an iconic sight that finally — definitively — places the soccer superstar in the pantheon of the game’s greatest players.
