DCCC: Women’s soccer falls to KCK in Jayhawk conference action

Dodge City women’s soccer dropped a tough KJCCC tilt on the road against KCK Blue Devils falling 4-0. The loss for the Conquistadors moves them to 1-5-1 on the season and still in search of their first official KJCCC win of the season after the game vs Garden City was suspended due to weather.

William David Whitis

William David Whitis, known to many as Bill, passed away September 26, 2022, while enjoying the beautiful view of the Anthony Lake. He was born January 10, 1944 in Goodland, Kansas, son of Jack Warren and Phyllis Jean (Abernathy) Whitis. He proudly served in the United States Army. He began working for Dillon’s as a grocery sacker and remained with the company for 42 years, during which he worked his way up to store manager, before retiring. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Jeri; and granddaughter, Tori. He will be deeply missed by his son, Kendall Jackson and wife, Gloria of Dodge City; granddaughter, Taylor Dye and husband, Tyler and their children, Payton, Brooklyn, and Owen, all of Cimarron, KS; grandson Tyler Jackson of Manhattan, KS; other relatives and many friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2022 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials in memory of Bill may be made to the Anthony Public Library and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003.

DODGE CITY- Michelle Lynn Garcia, 51, died Saturday, September 24, 2022 at her home in Dodge City, Kansas. She was born on November 8, 1970 at Dodge City, Kansas the daughter of Harold and Janie Lou (Goans) Innis.

Major Arena Soccer League 2 is pleased to announce The Kansas Bandits as the newest members of the league. The Bandits are the first of three new teams that an investment group is expected to launch in the midwest with a focus on expanding pro indoor soccer’s footprint in the Heartland.

Paving the future: Property tax relief (4 mills in 2024) and street sales tax initiative

On Nov. 8, Dodge City voters will have the opportunity to consider a one-half percent, or 0.50% retail sales tax increase on the ballot. The City of Dodge City Commission approved Resolution No. 2022-30 at the Aug. 15 meeting. This resolution authorized the question to be submitted to the Ford County Election Clerk and be placed on the 2022 election ballot for citizens to vote on.
