DCCC: Volleyball splits pair of games to open season

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director It was a doubleheader split for the volleyball team to open the 2022 season as they competed in McCook, Nebraska facing off against Laramie County and Mc-Cook. The Conquistadors would open the season against Laramie County and struggle out of the gate falling behind early in the match ultimately dropping the season opener 3-1 (25-19, 25-21, 22-25, 25-16).

DCCC: Men’s soccer routes Tabor JV in season opener

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director Eager to get the season going the men’s soccer team hit the road for the season opener taking on Tabor JV and took control early in route to a 9-2 victory to open the season. The Conquistadors would get goals from six different players with six different guys also recording an assist in the victory, also.

Sharilee Ann Rumsey Curry

Sharilee Ann Rumsey Curry passed away August 16, 2022 in Canon City, CO. She was born December 20, 1932 in Dodge City, KS, to Ralph and Velma Rumsey. Shari was a 1950 graduate of Dodge City High School and attended Dodge City Junior College. She and Willis A. Curry were united in marriage on September 16, 1951 and had three children, Lucinda “Cindy” Olson, Kimbrel (Elizabeth) Curry and Julie (George) Neubauer.

Dodge City - Robert Hardin Newell, 92, died August 19, 2022, at Trinity Manor Nursing Home,Dodge City. He was born on February 21, 1930, on the family farm south of Dodge City, the son of Hardin Harrison and Blanche M. (Durham) Newell.

Hodgeman County Longhorns prepare for fall football

High school football is back, and teams around the area are preparing for their first games of the 2022 season. The first game of the year can set the tone for the remainder of the season. Teams don’t immediately sink or swim after one game, but it can provide a decent litmus test as to how the year might pan out.
