Paris Nicole Carmona

Our daughter, Paris Nicole Carmona, passed away unexpectedly, at the young age of 17, due to intracerebral brain hemorrhage after bravely fighting for 2 weeks in Intensive Care. Paris was born on August 26, 2004 in Dodge City, Kansas to Shawn and Kelly (Schroeder) Carmona and proud older brother, Roman.

Paris had a brilliant mind, sassy wit, smart mouth and an infectious laugh. She loved spending time with family and friends and was fiercely loyal. She had a deep bond with her “kids”/dogs: Carson and Quinn, along with family dog, Rosco. Being extremely creative, she was a talented artist in many mediums, particularly drawing, painting and ceramics. Paris loved the color black, true crime podcasts, music, piercings and vintage clothing. She enjoyed shopping and going to see her favorite bands in concert. Paris had a kind, old soul and a very sweet heart. She was one of a kind and will truly be missed.

She was baptized in Christ at the First Christian Church on March 23, 2014. She attended Northwest Elementary, Dodge City Middle School and graduated from Dodge City High School. Her work ethic and ambition allowed her to graduate high school early in December. Paris received her diploma on May 21, 2022, with academic honors.

She had earned 35 credit hours at Dodge City Community College and was to finish her Associate’s degree this upcoming school year. She planned to start Wichita State University’s Forensic Science program in fall of 2023. In her own words from a recent scholarship essay, she wrote, “The field of Forensic Science allows me to combine my passion for science and my desire to help people. I want to be an advocate for crime victims, who no longer have a voice. I have the initiative to do what I love to do to help make a difference in the world.” Paris was blessed to have some amazing teachers that were instrumental in helping to shape her life: Gilbert Still, Jr., Andrea Keck, Annie Martinez, Claudia Ensico and Taggart Ketron.

Paris is survived by her parents, Shawn and Kelly; brother, Roman; her best friends, Crystal Marino and Xavier Hadley; grandmothers, Fina Carmona, Dodge City, Nyla Anderson, Emporia, and JoAnn Laub, Okarche, Oklahoma; great grandmother, Kate Carmona, Dodge City; aunts and uncles, Jeremy (Melissa) Schroeder of Olathe, Michael (Jeff) Reynolds of Emporia, Megan Miller of Cimarron, Holly Carmona of Dodge City, Genevieve Garcia of Katy, Texas, and Jeremy Wilkerson of Wichita; cousins, Evan and Dylan Schroeder, Bryleigh Cisneros, Jeremiah and Jayden Boutte, and Brogen and Maryn Wilkerson, as well as numerous second cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family members. Paris was preceded in death by her great grandmothers, Naomi Schroeder and Arlene Anderson Spence.

A special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Wesley Children’s Hospital ICU in Wichita. Their care and compassion to all of us was second to none, especially nurses Whitney, Cassie, Destiny, Tessa and Taylah.
