DODGE CITY, KS – Roberta (Tootie) Maier 84 died peacefully December 18, 2021, in Dodge City. She was born on January 17, 1937 in Hodgeman County, Kansas. The daughter of Herman J. and Zena (Wilkens) Beltz.
Tootie was a graduate of Dodge City High School. On May 17, 1955 she married Leland (Lee) Leon Maier in Jetmore, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 30, 1998. The two are now dancing in heaven, although Tootie didn’t like dancing, Lee did, and she loved making him happy. Tootie enjoyed going to the casino, cruising around town and driving by the houses of those she loved…” just checking on them” Tootie was selfless and took care of her grandson, James who had Cerebral Palsy and lived with her. As a matter of fact, she took care of everyone she knew and even those she didn’t know. She had a heart of gold!!
In her younger years she worked for Crust Buster and later worked for Western Plains Medical Complex before retiring in 2006.
Tootie is survived by a son, Garry Lee Maier and wife Tonya of Dodge City; three daughters, Vicki McBee and husband Royce of Ensign, Lelanda and companion Joe Stovall of the home and Tena Nading of Dodge City. She had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Kerry Maier and Larry Maier, daughter, Debbie Smith, granddaughter, Sonya Hernandez, sister, Phyllis Meadows and two brothers, Norman and Elton Beltz.
Graveside service will be on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Maple Grove Cemetery with Brayton Maier officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.
