DODGE CITY- Roland “George” Kerbs died peacefully in his sleep on his 72nd n birthday of a heart attack on Monday, March 7, 2022 at his home in Dodge City, Kansas.
He was born in Greeley, Colorado the son of Reuben and Frieda (Winder) Kerbs. George loved working with his hands, there wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix. He especially loved to work on motorcycles and cars. He loved to spend time with his family and looked forward to the family reunions. When he wasn’t working or spending time with his family, he was spreading the Word of God.
He obtained his bachelors in business from UNC in 1974 and started his career as an insurance adjuster. He later went to work on the Union Pacific Railroad for a short period of time, finding out that it wasn’t quite the job he thought it was. He found UPS in 1982 working as a contract laborer and then in 1998 he was hired on as a full-time employee. He stayed with UPS until his retirement in 2013.
George is survived by 2 sisters, Doreen Vogel and husband Ken, Reno, Nevada, and Karen Chariton and husband Ken, Hayden, Idaho; 4 brothers, Larry Kerbs and wife Linda, Sun City, Arizona, Jacob Kerbs and wife Ellen, Mead, Colorado, Robert Kerbs and wife Betty, Morrison, Colorado, and Lynn Kerbs, Sun City, Arizona; and 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Harold Kerbs, Jr.
Memorial service will be Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 10:00 am at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City with Jeff Hiers officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place. There will also be a service held in Colorado on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at noon at Windsor Park, Windsor, Colorado.
