MINNEOLA – Shirley M. Harris, 87, died Friday, August 26, 2022 at Minneola Long Term Care.
She was born July 13, 1935 at Dodge City, Kansas, the daughter of Ross and Leona (Flowers) Cunningham. She was the office manager and bookkeeper for the Minneola Coop for 29 years before retiring in March of 1996.
She was a member of the Minneola United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and served on numerous church committees and was a volunteer for Hospice of the Prairie for 17 years. She was a very active volunteer for the Minneola Days activities always making sure everything was running perfect. Many described her as a prayer warrior, if you ever needed a prayer, you called Shirley, you could always count on her prayers!
On July 19, 1953 she married Ronald Harris at Minneola, Kansas.
Survivors include: her husband of 69 years, Ronald, Minneola; her daughter, Rhonda Haggard and husband Jim, Stafford; her son, R. Keith Harris and wife Sonya, Wichita; a brother, Kenneth Cunningham and wife Kay, Minneola; a sister, Sharon Kay Strecker, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a sister-inlaw, Mary Ann Cunningham, Georgia; 4 grandchildren, Heather Matthews and husband Pate, Zachary Marks and wife Vanessa, Jesse Harris and wife Kristina and Sarah Martin and husband Josh; and 13 great-grandchildren, Keith, Colt, Alexia, Landon, Dominic, Hunter, Harper, Hadley, Asher, Adalyn. Heidi, Rowdy, and Tanah.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Cunningham.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10:00 am at the CrossWalk Christian Church with Rev. Kip Ryherd officiating. Burial will follow in the Appleton Township Cemetery, Minneola.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Minnis Mortuary, Minneola.
