BERTHOUD – Wayne E. Taylor, 84, died November 17th 2021 at his home in Berthoud Colorado. He was born to John and Ruth (Schrock) Taylor on May 18, 1937 in Dodge City Kansas.
He is survived by 4 daughters, Kylenn Dasenbrock and husband Steve of Dodge City, Joni Lowe and husband Harley of Greeley, Colorado, Karalee Minch of Berthoud and Julia and husband Dave of Windsor, Colorado; 2 sisters, Donna Demorit and husband Howard of Mendota, Illinois and Rowena Pike of Hollister, Missouri; and one sister-in law, Carol Shelton of Longmont, Colorado; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Taylor and wife Kalyn, Crystal Speck and husband Paul, Joseph Dasenbrock and wife Jennifer, Johnathan Dasenbrock, Wesley Lowe and wife Karita, Amanda DeGroat and husband Ben, Jessica and Derek Jacobsen; 10 great grandchildren, Allison, Peyton, Jake, Mackenna, Jackson, Stella, Malakai, Mya, Reece and Leto; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Glenda (Jones) Taylor, his parents, a brother-in-law, Charlie Pike, a brother Jim Shelton and a still born brother.
He attended primary school in Dodge City Kansas, where he met his wife, Glenda, in their kindergarten class. Attended Jr High in Chamberlain South Dakota and attended high school in Great Bend, Kansas where he graduated on his 18th birthday despite the fact he road his motorcycle down the hall the last day! He married Glenda on June 14, 1959 in Dodge City. He was stationed in Okinawa as a Sergeant in the Marines as Pistol Guard from 1955 to 1959. He played bugle or base drum in the Marine Band and was in the Rose Bowl with the band twice. He worked most of his life as a welder at Western Foundries in Longmont Colorado. Before that he worked at a movie theater, a dairy, WW Machine shop in Dodge City and liked to help his son-in-law by running tractor on the farm.
He Liked to sing in the choir and was a member of Grace Place Church in Berthoud Colorado. He had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and was always fun to be around. He was very proud of all of his family and loved spending time with each of them. His other activities were fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards, watching westerns and woodworking.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Ridenhour Cemetery, rural Ford County.
