Better Business Bureau: New summer job scam comes as many seek employment

Employment scams have been around for decades — and they are not going away. In fact, in 2021 the BBB Scam Tracker Report listed employment scams as the third riskiest scams in the nation. The median loss was $900. The most affected groups were 18-to-24-year-olds and military families. In 2021, 30% of those scams were reported between May and July. BBB wants to be sure you have the right information to help you avoid becoming one of these statistics. Many are looking for ways to offset the added expenses caused by inflation.
