DODGE CITY - Patricia Lee McDonald Rebein, 88, died at her home in Dodge City on May 4, 2022. She was born in Wichita, Kansas, on February 18, 1934, and grew up there and in Maple Hill, Kansas, where she spent many happy summers visiting her maternal grandparents.

Local social work graduates plan to pursue careers in southwest Kansas

The first class to graduate from the University/Training Center, 236 San Jose, in Dodge City, were honored with a reception at the Santa Fe Depot May 4. The 13 women will earn their Bachelor of Social Work degrees from attending classes at the center one day a week for three years while they were enrolled in the Dodge City cohort program with Fort Hays State University.

DCHS Softball: Lady Demons Claws Back, but Falls Against Garden City

Dodge City Lady Demons Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-5 loss to Garden City in game one. Garden City scored on a single by Angel Serrano and an error in the first inning. The Lady Demons struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Garden City, giving up 11 runs. Garden City got things moving in the first inning, when Serrano singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. Garden City scored four runs in the seventh inning. Garden City’s big inning was driven by singles by Gabby Ortiz, Jesykah Foster, and Brie Manwarren. Macy Musslin took the loss for Dodge City. The right-hander lasted seven innings, allowing 15 hits and 11 runs while striking out four and walking one. The Lady Demons launched one home run on the day. Camryn Lenz put one out in the seventh inning. Brittany Lomas led the Lady Demons with two hits in three at bats.

The Red Demons Varsity Baseball watched the gam slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 7-1 loss to McPherson on Tuesday. McPherson scored on a walk by Tucker Pelnar in the first inning and a single by Cade Wedel in the first inning.
