It was a tight race to the finish line for the Dodge City High School Red Demon basketball team Thursday, Jan. 19 when they took on the Derby High School Panthers, losing 53-58, the first day of the Tournament of Champions.

Surviving grief: My tribute to FedEx and God

Before I start my column on grieving I want to dedicate this day to the company I work for and their people: FedEx Ground in Dodge City. I’ve been with this company for 10 years. FedEx has good benefits and good pay, but I’m not here to brag about their benefits and good pay, I’m here to exalt these people whom have been a blessing to me and my late wife.

DCHS bowling pins down Liberal

The Dodge City bowling team was in Liberal on Tuesday, Jan. 17. The Red Demons took both the girls and boys competition on the day. Dodge City won the competition with 2133 series on the boys side and 2002 series on the girls side.

Lady Demons basketball come up short against Great Bend

The Lady Demons High School girls basketball team lost 57-50 to Great Bend Jan, 17, ending a three game winning streak. Great Bend seized control from the start, as they went on a 7-0 run, but the Lady Demons did not let that go unanswered, as they fought back and time the game 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Area athletes of the week

The calendar has flipped to January and area high schools are back in action. Athletes throughout the area have turned in stellar performances and the action is only going to get better.

Dodge City Raceway releases 2023 season schedule

The management of Dodge City Raceway is excited to release its racing schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. The 3/8 mile dirt track will see 10 weekly IMCA shows, six URSS shows, and a long awaited return of the ASCS National 360 tour throughout the upcoming season.
