Daughter Susan and Ervin get married

I am Lovina’s “English” friend Ruth, and I had the opportunity to help Lovina the week of Susan and Ervin’s wedding by taking photos of the wedding prep, running a few last-minute errands, and also attending the wedding on Friday, December 30. Typically, Amish weddings are held in the shed (pole barn) of the bride’s parents’ house, but with it being winter Susan and Ervin decided to use the CYC (Community Youth Center), which is a beautiful building that is used primarily for the youth to gather on Saturday nights for social activities but is also available for the Amish community to use for special events.

Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas awards grant to Smoky Hills PBS

BUNKER HILL, KS – The Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas has awarded Smoky Hills PBS with a grant of $3,600. The grant will support the literacy initiative program of Smoky Hills PBS, which will provide books for children enrolled in Head Start programs within Ford County, as well as the educational programming, PBS KIDS, on Smoky Hills PBS.

DCCC: Men’s basketball dispatches of Colby for 13th win

Dodge City men’s basketball continued the run in KJCCC action by taking down another conference foe this time dispatching Colby 92-78. With the win the Conquistadors moved to 13-3 overall on the season and 9-1 in KJCCC action and now own a two-game lead in the conference standings after losses by other teams on Saturday.

DCCC: Women’s basketball routes Colby led by Burton’s triple-double

Dodge City women’s basketball picked up their seventh win in a row as they downed Colby at home on Saturday beating the Trojans 87-60, spear headed by a triple-double from Jada Burton. The Conquistadors with the win moved to 14-2 on the season and 9-1 in KJCCC action extending their win streak to seven straight games and 12-straight games in the win column at home.
