As I listen to and see the vicious attack ads by the Republican Party may I remind our voters that our Governor, Laura Kelly inherited a huge mess! If voters will recall it was former Governor Brownback, supported by the Republican Party, who upset the child care/ foster care system. He is the one who changed the well-established and well-run department of Social Services SRS to the Department of Family and Children (DCF).

DCCC: Volleyball sweeps season series with Barton for first time since 2010

Dodge City volleyball team wraps up the regular season with a four-set win over Barton on the road earning the sweep over the Cougars for the first time since 2010. After dropping the first set to the Cougars the Conquistadors responded to take the next three and claim the 3-1 win (21-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-20).

DCCC: Men’s soccer ends season with tough road loss to Johnson County in playoffs

Dodge City men’s soccer hit the road for the first round of the Plains District playoffs and squared off with #18 Johnson County. The Conquistadors were looking to avenge an earlier season overtime loss to Johnson County but it was once again a penalty kick goal by the Cavaliers that was the difference in the match this time around also as Johnson County won 2-1.

Dodge City hosts state volleyball tournament

Here are the championship results for Volleyball 2A and 1A Division 2 classifications on the final day of the 2022 Kansas high school volleyball tournaments, where Hillsboro and Little River were crowned state champs at the United Wireless Area Oct. 28 and 29.

Thomas Wayne Badger

Topeka - Thomas Wayne Badger, 79, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on August 31, 1943 in Scranton, Kansas, the son of Glen and Minetta (Finlay) Badger. Tom received a Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas State University in Ag. Education. He worked as an Area Conservationist for the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service and retired with over 35 years of service. He had also worked on the Governor’s Water Quality Project. He served for 6 years in the Kansas Army National Guard, was a member of the Stull Community of Faith Church, the Topeka Sunflower Lions Club and the Vesper Lodge #136 in Burlingame A.F. & A.M. On June 5, 1965, Tom was united in marriage to Laura Elaine Smith in Scranton. Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, on October 23, 2020; by an infant daughter, Tracy Badger; by his parents, Glen and Minetta; and by his brother, Glen Badger. Tom is survived by his two children, Todd Badger of Stuart, Florida and Tara Phillips of Sedgwick, Kansas; his sister, Nancy Urish of Topeka; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life for Tom will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 11:00am at the Stull Community of Faith Church. Inurnment will be in the Burlingame Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions in memory of Tom may be made to the Kansas Lions Sight Foundation or the Stull Community of Faith Church, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS 66451.
