A step back in time

Fall seems terribly slow in arriving this year, but when it does, it becomes my favorite time of the year. The weather FINALLY cools, the Kansas State Fair is held, fall farm crops are harvested and fall mountain man retreats and rendezvous begin. A couple years ago, we attended the annual fall mountain man get-together known as a Prairie Rendezvous at the Maxwell Wildlife Refuge, near Canton, KS.

Candlelight vigil remembers those who have passed

It has been a Dodge City tradition for five years now to provide an opportunity for locals to honor the passing of loved ones at a candlelight vigil at Wright Park. Elaine Hernandez, event organizer, invited guest speakers Richard Falcon with Compass Mental Health, Jimmy Jones with New Chance, Jamie Huse, Tamantha Freeman and Jennifer Thompson to speak at the vigil, as well as loved ones who wanted to share their stories.

DCCC: Volleyball drops conference showdown at Garden City

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director Dodge City volleyball team was on the road yet again early in the season as they had their first road tilt in conference play facing off with Garden City and while the Conquistadors put forth a solid effort ultimately the Conqs dropped the match in four sets. Conqs would fall 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22) to Garden City which moves the Conqs to 6-3 on the season and still in search of their first conference win of the season as they are 0-2 in KJCCC action.
