Youth pilot training takes students higher

A flurry of aviation action hung suspended above the heads of Cadets Hazel Carrillo, Noah Elias and Nelson Loosli as they took notes in an after-school class on weather led by guest lecturer and retired Air Force meteorologist Jim Johnson.

DCHS baseball: Red Demons fall to Great Bend

The Red Demons lost the lead late in a 7-2 defeat to Great Bend April 29. The game was tied at one with Great Bend batting in the top of the fifth when Gavin Haberman grounded out, scoring one run.

DCHS Softball: Lady Demons shut out Wichita Heights

The Lady Demons picked up two wins against Wichita Heights on April 29. In the first game, Macy Musslin threw a gem for the Lady Demons, allowing zero runs and besting Heights by a score of 15-0.

‘Just look for the flash’: Flat Track Motorcycle Nationals

Look no further than Dodge City Raceway Park for flashy, leather-clad motorcycle men perfumed by 100 octane gas and lead. With the end of April came the return of the Flat Track Motorcycle Nationals at Dodge City Raceway Park and the game was strong among the 66 competitors in the big twins, modern open, classic singles and winged-a classes.

Carolina recipient of the Dale M. Dennis Award

Carolina Rodriguez, a senior at Dodge City High School, has received the Dale M. Dennis Excellence in Education Award, sponsored by United School Administrators of Kansas.
