When it comes to competitive baseball at the high school level, there’s always room for one more season. This summer, Dodge City American Legion Post 47 will be sponsoring a summer league for boys ages 14 to 19.

Over a decade ago I started my life over with my two young boys. Shortly after my aunt died, then my youngest son was born with a heart defect, unknown to us at the time. He had open heart surgery at 7 months old. Then I started college. My great grandma then died followed by the death of my dad within the year after.

How in the world did that happen?

Still a little hobbled and unsteady on my feet from recent knee surgery, here I sit at the computer, listening to the spring wind howl outside and reminiscing about past turkey hunts. These memories are probably as close as I’ll get to harvesting a turkey this spring, but memories of one particular fall turkey hunt keep popping into my mental in-box.

Area high school students attended Construction Day

On April 20, the Dodge City/Ford County Development Corporation and Dodge City Community College (DCCC) escorted 126 students from Dodge City Coldwater, Hodgeman County, LaCrosse, Maxville and Minneola high schools on tours of local construction sites.

DCCC adjusts room and board rates for 2022 summer

The Dodge City Community College Board of Trustees on Tuesday, voted on a change to its room and board rates for the summer semester for 2022. “As you recall we increased our fall and spring board rates by 3% and what we’re asking for tonight is to increase our summer rates,” said DCCC vice president of student services and risk management and Title IX co-coordinator Jay Kinzer.

Enjoy Final Friday art, activities at April’s end

On Final Friday this April 29 there are plenty of entertainment options for folks meandering through the downtown business area. Feasts for the eyes, the belly and the musical mind will be put on Front Street, so to speak, but all to enjoy and imbibe.
