DCHS Boys Golf: Finished 4th

The DCHS boys golf team finished 4th in the Hays invitational April 18 at the Smoky Hill Country Club. They were led by Cooper Scheck who fired a 76 and finished 2nd individually. Other scores were Aidan Robinson 84, Grayden Gamblin 93, A J Peters 98, Seth Weber 104, and freshmen Braeden Pennington 120. The team sits in second place in the league standings behind Garden City in this first conference tournament.

DCPD Capt. Colleen Brooks visits DCCC Nursing Classes

The Dodge City Community College Nursing program was visited Monday, April 18, by Capt. Colleen Brooks of the Dodge City Police Department, who spoke with students about the topic of sexual assault awareness.

Hillbilly Hunter Hacks

One of the buzzwords of late is “hack.” Now hack can mean something very bad, like your computer getting “hacked,” meaning someone has digitally broken into your information and now everyone in the township somehow knows the secret recipe for Aunt Agnes’s famous potato salad and Uncle Oscar’s deer jerky marinade, (even though they were both written on the inside of the kitchen cabinet door.)

Tractor safety course to be offered

Spring and warmer weather are coming. Teenagers can make themselves more marketable for jobs in agriculture by participating in the National Safe Tractor and Machinery Operation Program offered by local K-State Research and Extension Offices.

Dr. Richard L. Brownrigg

Dr. Richard L. Brownrigg passed away on April 14, 2022 after a short illness. Dr. Brownrigg was born on November 15, 1935 in Kansas City, KS to John and Emma (Jacobson) Brownrigg. He grew up in Kansas City, KS, where he was a member of the Wyandotte County High School swim team. He completed college and medical school at the University of Kansas, paying his way by working at the rail yards in Kansas City. Dr. Brownrigg practiced urology in Dodge City, KS, Alamosa, CO, and Pueblo CO for over 50 years, often admitting that what he enjoyed most in life was practicing medicine. He also enjoyed skiing, hiking, and camping in the mountains as well as traveling both in the US and abroad.

Mary Kathryn (Kay) Bergkamp Milford

Mary Kathryn (Kay) Bergkamp Milford, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and aunt, born August 23, 1939, entered into God’s Kingdom on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. Mary passed away in Fowler, KS comforted by members of her large family. Mary was known to her friends and family as Kay, Mary Kay, Kate, and Aunt Kathryn.
