Grace Young awarded 2022 Herb Clutter Memorial Scholarship

From recreating a mini-Agriland for kids who might not make it to the State Fair to organizing her own weed and seed identification contest, Grace Young is a young woman on a mission to simultaneously learn all she can about agronomy and milling science and share that knowledge with others. Her commitment to her community, coupled with her enthusiasm for the future of agriculture, made her the ideal recipient of the 2022 Herb Clutter Memorial Scholarship.

2022 Great American Cleanup Set

Join the City of Dodge City to keep Dodge City beautiful by recycling on Saturday, April 23. Dodge City’s Recycling Advisory Board and Community Recycling Environmental Waste (CREW) will be at the Jane Longmeyer Recycling Center, 124 N. 14th Ave., to accept your recycled products during their Great American Cleanup event.

16th Judicial District court users to be offered customer survey

The 16th Judicial District will join five other judicial districts in Kansas to participate in a court user survey administered by the National Center for State Courts. The survey will assess customer perceptions from people who come into contact with the district’s six courts in Clark, Comanche, Ford, Gray, Kiowa and Meade counties.

Garcia joins DCCC All-Kansas Academic Team

The Dodge City Community College Kappa Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society has named Damian Garcia to the All-Kansas Academic Team for 2022. Garcia, a DCCC sophomore from Dodge City, was honored April 1 during a luncheon ceremony at the Geary County Convention Center in Junction City.

Clover mites in homes

Now is the time of year when clover mites, (enter homes, apartments, or commercial buildings, with extensive numbers crawling around and causing people to be somewhat concerned regarding how to deal with the problem. Clover mites typically enter homes and buildings from a southwest exposure. Once inside, clover mites aggregate in large numbers in the corners of homes and buildings. Clover mites are primarily a nuisance mite pest because they do not bite humans. However, clover mites will leave a red stain when purposely or accidentally crushed.

COLLECTIBLE CHRISTMAS: The Carnegie Arts Center, 701 N. 2nd Ave., is selling pieces from a discontinued Charles Dickins’ Village Series it received as a donation. The ceramic pieces were manufactured by Department 56 and are deeply discounted at about $25 each, curator Carol Sinclair said. “These are 1980s and 1990s early editions that are no longer in production.
