Patty Winger, representing the Kansas Daughters of the American Revolution, presents Santa Fe Trail Association Dodge City/Ford Dodge/Cimarron Chapter President Bob Bunyan with a certificate for “Keeping the Santa Fe Trail Alive” Sunday, April 3 at the association’s chapter meeting at the Dodge House. “The DAR was one of the original organizations that promoted saving the history of the Santa Fe Trail,” Bunyan said.

It’s Tuesday evening and I’m sitting here writing by the table. I can hear the wind blowing outside. The temperature is 40 degrees, but the wind chill makes it feel colder than that. We are so ready for warmer temperatures, and April being here in a few days makes us yearn for warmer days. The forecast sounds like snow will be coming yet this week. It is good that God controls the weather, and we must accept what we are given. I enjoy the four seasons of the year here in Southern Michigan.

DCCC: Softball routes North Platte for pair of wins in non-conference action

Make it four in a row in the win column as the Dodge City softball team snagged two more wins on Sunday topping North Platte in non-conference play 11-1 and 13-2 both in five innings. The wins move the Conquistadors to 14-16 on the season and give them a four-game winning streak after a pair of wins against Garden City on Saturday.

DCCC: Men’s golf wins Bethel Invite as top five spots at tournament captured by Conqs

After opening the spring season with a conference tournament win the Dodge City men’s golf team brought home more hardware by winning the Bethel Invite. The Conquistadors competed at both the Hesston golf course and Sand Creek Station golf course for the Bethel Invite posting a team score of 572 with rounds of 283 and 289 claiming first place by 15-strokes.
