DCHS baseball: Demons drop games to Valley Center, Newton

The Dodge City Red Demons baseball team were unable to pick up a victory against Valley Center or Newton Thursday. In the first game Valley Center defeated Dodge City 4-2. Valley Center got things started in the first inning when Payton Graham singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.

Kyle Doperalski to Join KSHSAA Staff as Assistant Executive Director

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas State High School Activities Association is pleased to announce Kyle Doperalski will join the staff on July 1, 2022, as an Assistant Executive Director. Doperalski was selected in a national search from a strong field of candidates. His primary responsibilities will be administering the activities of cross country, basketball and track & field. Doperalski has served in the athletic department at the University of North Dakota for the past ten years as the Associate Athletic Director for External Operations.

John Edward Schinstock

John Edward Schinstock passed away at the age of 74 on March 31, 2022, at his home in Yates Center, Kansas. John was born on April 18, 1947, the son of Edward and Marion (Mallow) Schinstock in Dodge City, Kansas.

Joseph A. “Quezo” Perez

Dodge City - Joseph Alan “Quezo” Perez, 44, died March 30, 2022 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. He was born on June 2, 1977 at Dodge City, the son of Tom Perez, Jr. and Alice (Lozano) Perez.

Mindy Rehmert

Mindy Rehmert, 60, Dodge City, KS, passed away on March 30, 2022. She was born March 6, 1962.

Dodge City’s Mendez, Barker take national titles in wrestling

Dodge City wrestling stand outs Damian Mendez (senior) and Luke Barker (junior) have continued to add to their already impressive resumes. This past weekend the multiple time state champions added National Champion to their accolades. Competing against the nation’s best high school wrestlers at the National High School Coaches Association High School Nationals in Virginia Beach, Virginia, both were able to navigate through their brackets full of nationally ranked opponents, state champions and state placers from all over the country.
