TOPEKA — An effort to allow certain Kansas retailers to sell fireworks year-round fell well short of the needed votes Monday, after some state Senators raised concern about an amendment that could have lead to a firework ban.
The Dodge City High School Athletic Department has been live streaming events since 2007. The mission was to provide a means for extended family, fans, and alumni to view varsity games for football and basketball.
TOPEKA — Kansas Electric Cooperatives representative Leslie Kaufman is likely to view any weather anomaly tagged with the name Uri as a pseudonym for financial menace. Kaufman joined a chorus of energy and political interests Tuesday by endorsing a Kansas House resolution urging full investigation of the winter ice storm Uri in February 2021 that resulted in blackouts for 10 million people in the United States and Mexico and placement of 170 million Americans under weather alerts by the National Weather Service.
The first meeting of the Federal Advisory Committee for Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production will be available for all to attend via Zoom March 23-24. The two-day meeting will begin at 11 a.m.

Dodge City Wrestling Academy took part in the USAWKS 2022 District 4 Championships this past week and the wrestlers did a great job. The DCWA had 34 wrestlers take part in the meet and 27 of them are heading to compete for state. As a team, DCWA was able to finish 5th out of 41 teams. For the first time in a while, both the Bucklin boys and girls basketball teams are headed to state. For the boys teams this is the first time since 1994 they have made the trip to state. The girls team last made the trip in 2018.
The Spearville girls basketball team have played themselves into a trip to the Class 1A state tournament by defeating South Central 49-36. In a season with several ups and downs, Spearville never gave up on themselves and will now be playing in Dodge City for a chance for a state title.
A pair of Dodge City track and field athletes traveled to Pittsburg, Kansas to compete at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships as Pittsburg State University once again hosted the event.
The Dodge City High School bowling team sent two bowlers to state this year. Camryn Lenz who finished 5th with a 602 series today at the State Bowling Tournament. Taylor Lenz also finished 30th with a 486 series.
