DODGE CITY Betty M. Volz, 94, died Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Reflections Living of Dodge City.

It might not have occurred to the city commissioners inside the city hall chambers but technical difficulties with its website made viewing their meeting Monday night an impossibility. Commissioners Michael Burns, Joe Nuci, Chuck Taylor and Rick Sowers were present for the meeting.
This was a matchup between two of the top girl’s teams in 6A with Wichita Heights hosting Dodge City for the sub-state championship. Both teams came in with 18-3 records, but the Lady Demons would come away with the 52-46 win over the Falcons.
Miller Elementary School students stand proudly by the food they collected to donate to The Salvation Army food pantry. The Bucklin Red Aces basketball team advanced to the Sub-State championship game after defeating Moscow 85-52 in Thursday night’s semi-final. The Red Aces offense took off and Moscow had no answers for Bucklin.
Dodge City softball team played host to Seward County for a Jayhawk Conference showdown on Saturday and dropped a pair of tight contests despite holding early leads, falling 7-5 and 6-3. The Conqs with the losses fall to 7-10 on the season and 3-2 in KJCCC action with their next contest a makeup game at home against Northwest Kansas Tech on Tuesday, March 8 at 3 p.m.
This week’s athletes of the week are Anna Stein and Taegan Pedigo from Spearville High School. Anna Stein is having a great season.
Diamond Athletics Cheer & Dance has been well established in the Dodge City community and surrounding areas for many years now. For over 15 years it has been a place where kids of all ages can go to learn how to stunt, flip and tumble and learn all the various styles of dance from hip hop to ballet.
