Food pantry stocked thanks to Walmart grant

Dana Bartezko Salvation Army Capital Campaign Office Manager DODGE CITY – The Salvation Army of Dodge City received a grant of $1,750 through Walmart’s Community Grant Program for Hunger Relief and Healthy Eating. The funds will be used to support The Salvation Army’s on-site Food Pantry Program by purchasing additional food.

DCCC: Football battles Coffeyville falling in KJCCC opener

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director Dodge City football took to the field for the first time at home during the 2022 season as they hosted Coffeyville for their KJCCC opener and while the Conquistadors improved from week one ultimately it was the Red Ravens who earned the 38-10 win. The contest opened with scoring drives on the first three drives of the game as Coffeyville covered 52 yards on the first drive capping it with a three-yard touchdown run.

DCCC: Women’s soccer drops KJCCC opener versus Barton

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director Dodge City women’s soccer team opened KJCCC action at home against #14 Barton and the Conquistadors suffered a tough 9-1 loss to the top-scoring team in the NJCAA Division I. The Conqs with the loss move to 1-1-1 on the season overall and 0-1 in conference play.

DCCC: Volleyball grabs straight set win over Neosho County

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director Dodge City volleyball hit the road traveling to the east side of Kansas on Tuesday and took on Neosho County in a non-conference matchup and earned the straight-set sweep. The Conquistadors picked up the win 27-25, 25-21, 25-13 to improve to 6-3 on the season.

DCCC: Men’s golf has record breaking performances in first fall tournament

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director The fall season started with a bang for the Dodge City men’s golf team as they competed at the Southwestern Christian Invite in Oklahoma City. The Conqs would etch their name in the records in multiple ways on their way to a third-place team finish at the tournament posting an 818 three-round score to finish -46 which is a school record for 54-hole team performance.

WHEREAS, the 2022 Semi Pro Dodge City Toros Soccer Club, Coached by Raul Delatorre & Andrew Delatorre, completed the Season in the UPSL Premier League placing 4th place at Nationals out of 300+ teams across the USA in their first year competing in the league; and WHEREAS, winning multiple region cups such as the Midwest South Regular Season Cup, Midwest South Division Cup, Central Region Cup, and the National final 4 stage in Columbus Ohio; and WHEREAS, since established in 2017 Dodge City Toros Soccer Club organization has grown from 12 youth boys/girls to 200 players ranging from 4-25 years of age; and WHEREAS, the organization is making a difference to our community where children who like soccer need role models to follow while providing pathways in southwest Kansas, and; WHEREAS; exposed to them at the stadiums and the training grounds, our heroes are symbols for all the qualities we would like to possess and all the ambitions we would like to satisfy in creating a real American soccer culture with athletes to inspire the next generation by supporting youth soccer; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Kent Smoll, Mayor of the City of Dodge City, do hereby proclaim September 15, 2022 as Dodge City Toros Soccer Club Proclamation Day to honor a team of young men who are representatives of the quality and caliber of young men and women, not only of our school community, but of our entire community. DCCC: Men’s soccer splits pair of non-conference games in Texas

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director Dodge City men’s soccer team hit the road traveling to Texas for a pair of non-conference showdowns and would take on the NJCAA Division III four-time defending National Champions, Richland along with facing off with Mountain View. The Conquistadors would head home with a split of the two contests dropping a highly contested 2-0 decision against Richland before bouncing back against Mountain View as they would win in convincing fashion 14-2.

DCCC: Men’s cross country finishes 13th at Terry Masterson Twilight Classic

Mike Smith DCCC Sports Information Director Dodge City men’s cross country team got the season started under the lights at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic in Hutchinson on Thursday competing in a night race. The Conquistadors put together a 13th place team finish competing against several other KJCCC schools alongside multiple four-year schools from the NAIA and NCAA Division II level.
