Dodge City - Gerald Dean Dowling, 89, died July 7, 2022 at Reflection Living, Dodge City. He was born on March 26, 1933 at Dodge City, the son of Carl and Mary (Kimbell) Dowling.

Damian Isaac Mendez

Damian Isaac Mendez life began April 8, 2004 in Dodge City, Kansas. He tragically passed on July 3rd, 2022 due to complications with heat stroke. He began his education at Linn Elementary School. At the young age of 6, he developed an interest in wrestling that later turned into a passion. He started his wrestling journey with the Dodge City Wranglers. Damian competed in all types of wrestling, folk style, free style, and greco. He had dreams of being a NCAA National Champion. His pursuit towards a goal of becoming a professional MMA athlete and Olympic Gold Medalist was his next adventure. Damian continued his wrestling career at Dodge City High, where he was a three time state champion. He graduated in May of 2022 and had signed a letter of intent to wrestle at North Dakota State University.

KBI arrests Ford County Deputy Davis

KIOWA COUNTY – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation arrested Deputy Ryan Davis in Greensburg July 8. On Friday, July 8, at approximately 1:45 p.m., KBI agents arrested Davis, 36, of Grand Island, Neb.

Author Wenzl offers reward for Mexican Village Fiesta banner

Tucked away in a closet there may be a banner that graced the stage of many Mexican fiestas over the years in Dodge City and local author Tim Wenzl is willing to shell out $100 from his own pocket for the privilege of displaying that banner in the Boot Hill Museum.

Dodge City Toros soccer advances

The Dodge City Toros soccer team advanced to the round of 16 in the 2022 UPSL National Playoff with a 3-1 win over Des Moines United FC. The Toros were led by Alonso Campos with three goals scored.

Damian Mendez had heart of a champion

The sudden passing of local wrestling legend Damian Mendez left many members of the community saddened. The 2022 Dodge City High School graduate succumbed to heat stroke July 3.
