The city will host an Old Fashioned 4th of July at the Boot Hill Museum all day Sunday. Can-Can lessons and deputizings will take place at 10 a.m., 11 a.m.

Grateful future mom worries about baby shower

Dear Amy: After many years, and with the help of prayers and science, I am pregnant and - along with my family and friends - looking forward to a celebratory baby shower. My issue is whether I must invite a narcissistic sister-in-law (my brother’s wife), or if it is appropriate to only invite her daughters, ages 10 and 14.

Sharon joined Cargill in January of 1987; Her first job was in back pack-off working for Debbie Henning. She became a great asset for Cargill when she took the position of maintenance planner.

Happy Retirement Jose!!!!

Today is Jose’s last working day with Cargill after a long and rewarding career. Jose joined Cargill in April of 1990 as a Tender Puller. After six months he moved to the Refrigeration Department where he showed his skills and was promoted to a Lead Refrigeration Mechanic.

Day 12, Kansas Wheat harvest report

This is day 12 of the Kansas Wheat Harvest Reports brought to you by the Kansas Wheat Commission, Kansas Association of Wheat Growers and the Kansas Grain and Feed Association. Trevor Cox, field agronomist, with Central Valley Ag Co-op in Clay Center, reported that harvest began in their area on June 23.

Summer conditions welcome Spider Mites

The recent hot, dry temperatures we have seen this summer have brought on one of the most common pest problems I see this time of year-spider mites. These little pests tend to attack plants that face the stresses of heat and drought.

City of Dodge City lifts water watch

The City of Dodge City Water Watch that was issued on June 17, 2022, is lifted effective Friday, July 1. Following the Water Conservation Plan and Ordinance No. 3583, a water watch is terminated when the triggering events have ceased to exist.

Dodge City A’s: Bee Jays beat the A’s

The Dodge City A’s traveled to Liberal July 29 night to face the Bee Jays and lost 11-1. The A’s fell behind early in the game thanks to a four-run inning by the Bee Jays in the first inning.
